This gorgeous boy is in foster and is looking for his new forever home
Doug is a handsome, 3-year-old Black and Gold long haired boy. He is entire (Neutering contract will need to be signed by adopters and will be followed up) and is in date with vaccinations. He is being rehomed due to a change in family circumstances.
Being in his family home from 8 weeks he was understandably somewhat stressed when he first went into foster, but through all of his barking and tail chasing he has never shown the slightest hint of aggression. One week in he has settled down nicely, sleeping though the night and relaxing nicely in the evenings.
Doug loves everyone. Big dogs, little dogs, people, horses, crowds absolutely nothing phases this boy when out of the home. He is wonderfully socialized. At over 6 feet long and touching 40kg Doug is a big strong boy, but he walks well on the lead and has good recall when off.
Around the home he can be a little needy, he hates being left out of anything and if he feels he isn’t getting sufficient attention will bark until he does. This may be a hangover from the unsettling of being put into foster though. His owners reported that he is ok being left for short periods of time, but this has not yet been tested in foster.
He is living with a mature GSD bitch and a cat in foster. The cat and Doug have met and Doug shows nothing other than genuine interest in the cat, certainly no signs of aggression it, it is unknown how he would react if the cat ran. He plays nicely with the resident GSD and would benefit from living with a calm, confident spayed female large breed dog.
Doug hasn’t lived with children before so we would place him in a home with visiting children only.
Doug is currently in foster in North Hampshire, and will need a home with adopters who have experience of rescue GSDs and understand that Doug will need lots of time to settle.
