Alfie is a gorgeous 8 month old German shepherd, he is vaccinated and micro chipped.
Alfie was one of 6 pups, his siblings all got re homed but Alfie was left the reason for this is Alfie was born with an eye defect, his eyes are smaller than what they should be so don’t fill the sockets along with this both eyes had a cataract on them so he was also blind. Alfie was in a kennel for 5 months on his own, he had very little human contact but was let out during the day to play with the other dogs. We were contacted asking if we could help Alfie, hence him being with us now. Alfie has since been to Optivet specialist and had an operation to remove the cataracts from both eyes, this operation has been a complete success and Alfie can now see. Alfie is still having daily eye drops but We don’t know if Alfie will need further treatment as he gets older, the specialists are not expecting any problems. We do know that Alfie will need a yearly check-up at Optivets.
Alfie is in foster with 4 other dogs and several cats and is thriving, he is happy and confident in the home but is very nervous outside but with practice he will improve. Alfie is not a lover of the car but he does travel well albeit he dribbles all through the journey.
Alfie needs a home with another large breed dog to help with his confidence and where someone is around most of the time. The family also need to be within easy access of one of the Optivet branches for his annual check-up.
