Charlie

Charlie is around 5 years old and in a foster home in Surrey, this is what his foster mum has said about him.

A few weeks back I was told about a white GSD in Southern Ireland who had recently been found as a stray. He was found wandering but when scanned had a chip, sadly when traced back to the breeder and previous owner neither wanted him back.  However, maybe that was for the best as he was very underweight and submissive.
He was found a place in a shelter but as is always the issue , he needed a rescue to help him. I approached Carol , who very kindly gave Charlie, as we have now named him, rescue back up .
He arrived with us last Wednesday and so has now been in foster with my mob for a week. Charlie is a quiet boy, very unassuming but does love nothing better than a gentle cuddle. He is still incredibly thin, now weighing 33 kg ; which I know is an imporovement on his weight from when he was first found.
Charlie has mixed well with our 5, he can get a bit jealous / overwhelmed at times when having a fuss if one of the others gets just too close ; but this has only shown itself as a rather annoyed bark in their direction. They take heed and move away, so this has not been a big issue.
He is very food orientated , as you would expect. We do watch him closely when food is being dished up as it could be a real flash point for Charlie. However, I feel this will improve given time and him grasping the fact that food is regular and substantial.
He is not bad on the lead...not something he has not much experience of in the past without a doubt. He wanders around rather than walking beside you but he doesn't pull any great ammount. He is housetrained, so I guess at sometime he must have been a loved pet. Charlie travels well in the car , quietly and without fuss. He has proved himself to be good with sensible children , no idea with cats as yet !
Yesterday he was neutered so he is feeling a little sorry for himself today. When he returned from the vets yesterday he was still rather snoozy, touchingly all of my lot laid down around him in a very protective way ! And the vet nurses said he was a great patient, if a little moany after his op !
